Privacy Policy

Periodicium is an interactive periodic table of the chemical elements, operated by Kyrylo Tymchyshyn, Lviv, Ukraine ("we", "our", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.

We do not collect personal data. Periodicium has no accounts, no registration and no sign-in, and it never asks you for a name, an email address or any other identifying detail. The one exception is the Supporters page, described below, which lists people who support the project financially.

We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand which parts of the application are used. The analytics are self-hosted, set no cookies and no identifiers, and cannot be traced back to an individual visitor. What is recorded:

• Which pages are opened, and in which languages
• Which interface settings are used, such as theme, table form and display units
• The referring site, if you arrived from a link
• Coarse device information such as browser, operating system and screen size band

Periodicium sets one cookie, and only to remember which languages you are reading so the site opens in it next time. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Your interface preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on the device, are never transmitted to us, and are removed when you clear the site's data.

So the application keeps working without internet connection, a service worker stores pages and data files in your browser's cache. This is a copy of content already served to you; nothing about you is stored in it, and clearing the site's data removes it.

Sending feedback creates an entry in the project's issue tracker containing only the title you wrote, the description you wrote and the interface language you were using. No name, email address or contact detail is collected, so please do not include personal information in the description.

The form is protected against automated abuse by a check your browser solves by itself. It runs against our own server, involves no third party, sets no cookie, and records nothing about how you use the page.

If you support Periodicium on Patreon or via Monobank Jar, the Supporters page may publicly list the name you use on Patreon or noted in Jar, the date of your support and its amount. These details are copied by hand from Patreon/Monobank; nothing is collected on this site.

To be listed under a different name, have our donation amount hidden, or to have your entry removed, contact us by email or message on Patreon and it will be changed or removed.

A small number of external services are involved, each with its own privacy practices, over which we have no control:

• netcup GmbH (Karlsruhe, Germany) - our hosting provider, runs the server the site is served from, which keeps standard request logs including IP addresses for security and reliability
• Bunny.net - a content delivery network sitting in front of that server, so it routes and caches requests and processes your IP address in doing so
• GitHub - hosts the issue tracker that feedback is submitted to
• Patreon - only if you follow the donation link, which leaves this site
• Monobank - only if you follow the donation jar link, which leaves this site

We do not sell, share or distribute data to third parties, and there is no personal data to sell, share or distribute.

Because no personal data is collected:

• There is nothing about you for us to access, modify, or delete
• You can use Periodicium without providing any personal information
• You can stop using it at any time, with no data left behind on our side

Periodicium does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children under 13 included. Since no personal data is collected from any visitor, this policy applies equally regardless of age.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any change is published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
